Size and Population

Qatar is one of the smallest Arab Gulf states with an area of around 11,437 square kilometers. The population of Qatar is around 1.6 million with majority of the population residing in the capital city, Doha and neighboring municipalities such as Al Rayyan, Al Wakra, Al Khor and Mesaieed (both Khor and Mesaieed along with Dukhan are industrial cities)

Currency

The currency in Qatar is Qatari riyals which is pegged with the US Dollars (1 US Dollar = 3.65 Qatari riyals).

Qatar Economy

Qatar is rich in natural resources and has huge oil and gas reserves. Qatar has the third largest gas reserve in the world estimated at over 894 tcf. Qatar's GDP in 2011 accounted for QR 631 Billion (173 Billion US Dollars) with 58% being contributed by the oil and gas sector. Qatar has one of the highest per capital income in the world. In 2011, Qatar's GDP Per capita reached a record level of 97,727 US Dollars. In the Non - Oil sector, finance, real estate and insurance & manufacturing are the major contributors to the GDP.
